About the Artist
Samantha is a ceramic artist creating handbuilt, one-of-a-kind home objects that balance function with sculptural presence. Rooted in wabi-sabi principles, her work embraces organic form, hand-carved pattern, and the quiet imperfections left behind. Each piece reflects an ongoing exploration of how everyday objects can be both useful and artful.
She holds a B.F.A. from Florida State University and has been working with clay since 2010. After college, Samantha moved to Western North Carolina to immerse herself in the region’s deep pottery traditions and to draw inspiration from the surrounding mountain landscape. The rhythms of erosion, terrain, and cycle of the seasons continue to influence her approach to form and surface.
Today, Samantha creates her ceramics from her home studio in the apple valley of Hendersonville, North Carolina. Her practice is intentionally evolving. Guided by experimentation, intuition, and a desire to thoughtfully reimagine everyday design challenges through clay.
Outside the studio, Samantha explores other creative mediums including printmaking, painting, and photography, and spends time hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking in the mountains that shape her work. She lives in Hendersonville with her husband and daughter, where daily life, landscape, and making are deeply intertwined.
