Service Description

This is a 2-session course, allowing time for the pieces created in the first session to dry to allow for surface decorating at the next session. Sessions will occur on back-to-back days for one hour each, with the second session happening from noon-1 the following day (unless another time is specifically requested at the time of reservation). Guests will arrive and be walked through the process of making 3 pinched pieces : a mini planter (great for starting seeds or propagating succulents), a small table planter with accompanying tray, and a hanging planter. This instruction time will allow the guests to work with the wet clay using some of the most basic principles of hand-building. During the following session, guests will receive a demo on various ways to decorate the "leather-hard" surface of the clay, from painting to stamping and carving with a variety of tools. Underglaze colors will be available in a limited, tasteful pallet, and there will also be the option to give pieces a clear coat finish. Guests will come away with 3 unique, handmade and decorated planters to add some artful touches of greenery to any space! The studio also has a gallery where attendees will have a chance to shop a selection of locally made art and the host's work. Beverages in glass bottles are allowed to be brought in, no food please.
